Anybody's game

On October 25, Daniel and I headed down to Provo with a bunch of people from our ward to watch Boise State play BYU. It was kind of an informal YM activity -- I think the entire Teachers quorum but one was on the trip, plus several other people from the ward.

The trip down was mostly uneventful except for a flat tire on one of the vehicles right about Ogden. While the tire was being fixed some of us went into town and got lunch/dinner at In-N-Out, then we got back on our way.

The traffic started getting really heavy as we got off the freeway in Orem. It was amazing how many Idaho cars with BSU flags there were. A lot of people drove down to see the game.

We drove right to the stadium, parked, and headed into the game.

This was Daniel's first college football game, and the first time I've been since I was at BYU.

Buster Bronco was there working the crowd.

The marching band plays the BYU fight song while the ESPN guy interviews somebody (another ESPN guy?) on camera.

A big Y.

The Broncos take the field.

Daniel is excited.

A big stadium full of people.

It was nice of the special events staff to wear BSU colors. A year earlier this would have been Rachel.

Looking over the crowd toward Rock Canyon.

These guy kept running around the field with the giant flags.

A big stadium full of people, after it got dark.

I'm not sure I ever figured out the point of this giant tent-like enclosure they built during one of the breaks, but it was kind of cool.

After the game we met up with J.J., a friend from Tokyo who's a BYU student now.

Finally, here are some random football photos.

It was fun. I think Daniel enjoyed it.

Girls play

This is a bit out of order, but the week of Homecoming Lisa also played in the annual "Powder Puff" football game. Here are a few photos...

Hanging out on the sidelines.

The game was on a Wednesday evening, so it became our ward's combined Young Men / Young Women activity. Daniel is on the back row on the right, Yumiko on the second row from the front on the left.

Lisa on the field, getting ready for action.

The football flies past; most of the YM/YW aren't watching.

Charging into action!

The girls on the sidelines were really getting into it.

Halftime huddle.

In the game again for another set of plays.

Chasing down the ball.

Subbing out.  She had fun playing.

A few bonus photos...

Good job, Lisa!

You Raise Me Up

On October 2, Lisa, Yumiko, and I went to see Josh Groban.

It was really good. The man is an amazing singer.

This was the first stop on his current tour. His first tour show ever was in Boise, so he wanted to start here for old times' sake.

For the first show on the tour, things went very smoothly. They had all the lighting and sound and everything worked out very well.

We managed to get some pretty good seats, too.

It was a lot of fun!
