A few weeks ago Lisa went to EFY in Provo. She had a great time. Here are some photos from the trip. (Actually two trips, one to take her down and one to bring her back.)
You can tell you're in northern Utah when you start to see mountains like these:

And you know for sure you're in Utah when you see stores like this:

Wait, could it be Provo at last?

Yes, it's Provo all right!

Incidentally, the weather appears to have been really cool this spring in Utah. I've climbed to the top of Mt. Timpanogus in April; this year in June it still looked like this:

We found a motel with a really colorful decorating scheme. The owners must have a weird sense of fashion. Or maybe these are just the colors they could get on sale at the paint store.

Heading to the Marriott center to check in.

Waiting for them to open the doors.

While waiting we ran into a former co-worker who is now living in Tokyo. His son (who went to preschool with Lisa) was there for EFY also. And I thought it was a long way to come from Idaho!
Registration completed, we wander around until we find Lisa's dorm room.

Lisa's digs for the next five days.

By now it's nearly noon, so we go in search of lunch. Lisa wants to hit Spoon Me, since the store in Boise is no more. Sadly, the Provo franchise is out of business as well.

So, feeling nostalgia for Guam, we settle for Subway instead.

Dropping Lisa back at her dorm, I wander around campus briefly to see what mischief the powers that be are up to this year. There was a fair amount of construction going on in the Heritage Halls area. I couldn't figure out what exactly they were putting in, but whatever it was it appears that Bowen Hall needs to give way.

Curiously, they were driving machinery around on the roof. Here they're getting ready to lift a skid steer up to join the backhoe already up there. Personally, I'd be a bit nervous about how much weight the roof can hold...

Speaking of demolished buildings, here's what's left of the Provo Tabernacle after the tragic fire last year -- just a shell of its former self. I loved that building...

We now skip ahead to the end of the week. On the way back down to pick up Lisa, I stopped by the cemetery in Ogden.

Lisa earned several more driving hours.

Wending our way homeward...

...under cloudy skies...

And we're back!
