Vocabulary quiz: Anybody ever heard of a sesamoid?  Yeah, me neither.

Here's a hint.  It's one of these things:

Oh, the one there that looks like it's broken in half?  Yeah, that's the one!

Apparently Daniel broke his some time last fall.  His foot hurt during most of the fall soccer season, but only when he stepped on it funny or kicked the ball in certain ways, so we didn't worry about it too much.  After the season it felt okay.

Then it hurt again during the spring season.  After the season it kept hurting when stepped on or hit wrong, so finally we took him to a podiatrist.  Sure enough, he'd been walking on (and playing soccer on) a broken foot for eight or nine months, at least.

For the last month he's been wearing a foot brace, and it's healing up.  Hopefully another month and it will be back to normal.
