Mission

This past Thursday (February 7), Andrew's mission call arrived at our house.  Yumiko forwarded it to him, and it arrived there yesterday (Saturday, February 9).

Rachel and Justin visited his apartment in the evening and set up a variety of phones and computers to broadcast video of the Big Event to family members in Idaho, New Mexico, and on the east coast.  They also took photos and video for us; all these images are courtesy of them.

Andrew is about to open the fateful envelope!

And here it is!

Where is he going?  The answer is...

Busan, Korea!

Here's a map of the mission.  The shaded area is the Busan mission; the city of Busan is at the lower right.  The island just south of Busan is part of Japan.  Yes, the two countries are close enough that you can see one from the other.  (From the top of Busan's tallest building, the line of sight to the horizon should be about 38 miles; Tsushima is about 30-35 miles from Busan.)

Busan is the second largest city in Korea, with a population of about 3.6 million, which makes it just smaller than Yokohama and Los Angeles in terms of population.
