After lunch we took a bus to go to Beomeosa, a famous Buddhist temple complex in a wooded area on the outskirts of Busan.
On the path up to the temple there were many of these pillars.
This is the first gate, the "One Pillar Gate," so named because from the side it looks like it's held up by just one pillar. See the photo from the return trip (below) for a side view.
After a lot of steps we came to a second gate.
This gate is guarded by a couple of fierce dudes.

The woodwork and painting was amazing.
And finally, the last gate. Which is actually a temple building, but the main entrance to the temple compound runs underneath it, so the building itself acts as a gate.

The temple complex has a large central square surrounded by buildings.
We saw these two girls in traditional Korean costume.
Many of the buildings had golden Buddhas in them.
After looking around for a while, we bumped into the two girls in traditional Korean outfits. It turns out one was visiting from Japan. We talked with them for a while, and they let us take some photos with them.
After that we explored some more.
Then it was time to head back down the mountain.
And back to where we started, a side view of the One Pillar Gate.
